In Charlestown the first question is never about windows. It is where the truck goes, how long the street is tied up, and whether your neighbors are going to be unhappy with you for a week. We handle the street permit, we tell you the day before what it will look like, and we are gone when we said we would be gone.

The right windows for a coastal, historic town are not the same as a builder-grade suburban spec.
Narrow one way streets, resident permit parking, and no driveway. A contractor who shows up and figures it out on the morning of is a contractor who leaves you apologizing to the block. The city requires a street occupancy permit from Public Works for taking street space or putting up staging, applied for at least seven business days ahead, and signs posted plus fliers to neighbors three days before the work starts. We do all of that. You do not call anybody.
Most multi unit buildings here are condos, and in a Massachusetts condominium the outside of the building is generally common area. That means the association documents, not the owner, usually decide what the exterior of a window or door looks like. We have done this before and we know what the question is before you have to ask it. Bring us your documents and we will tell you what you can order.
Charlestown has no local historic district. Monument Square is under study by the Boston Landmarks Commission and has been since 2022, but a study is not a designation, and nothing has been designated. Individually landmarked buildings are the exception and there are a few. For almost every house here, replacing windows needs a city permit and nothing from Landmarks. If somebody told you otherwise, call us with the address and we will check it rather than guess.
Boston requires a licensed contractor on any building of three units or more. On one and two family owner occupied homes the owner can do the work themselves. We mention it because plenty of Charlestown buildings are three units, and because it is the kind of thing people find out after they have already bought windows.
A straight swap of an existing window is a short form permit. Cutting a new opening or anything structural is a long form. We pull it, we are named on it, and the inspector talks to us. Our Massachusetts HIC registration number is on the contract and on this site, as state law requires.
Price moves with the opening count, the style, the glass package and what we find when the old unit comes out. Access adds to it here and we say so in the quote rather than discovering it later. The estimate is free, it is itemized, and the number on it is the number you pay.
The manufacturers we buy direct and install ourselves.

A straight answer on whether to repair or replace, then an exact quote. That is the whole pitch.
We measure and look at your actual windows in your actual home.
Repair or replace. If a repair makes sense, we say so.
An itemized price in writing. No high-pressure close, no fake deadlines.
Clean, professional installation and a respectful job site.
We apply for a street occupancy permit from the city, at least seven business days before the job. Signs go up and your neighbors get fliers three days ahead, which is the city's rule and also just decent. You do not have to arrange anything or talk to anyone about it.
Usually not on your own say so. In a Massachusetts condo the building exterior is typically common area, so the association documents decide what the outside looks like, including color and style. Send us what you have and we will tell you what fits before you order anything.
For almost certainly no. There is no local historic district here. Monument Square has been under study since 2022 but has never been designated. A small number of individual buildings are landmarked and those do need review. Give us the address and we will check it properly.
Most houses are one day. We tell you the day before what time we arrive, where the truck sits and when we are off the street, and then we do that. If anything changes you hear it from us first, not from a neighbor.
Yes, including zero percent on approved terms. We will tell you what you qualify for before you commit to anything.
